Q. How does your service work?
A. Our three-step process is simple. First, select one of resume packages featured in the Order Resume section of this website. Once you submit your order via our secure server eCommerce system, you will be taken directly to the Resume Survey site, where you will receive instructions for completing and submitting your resume survey. When we receive your completed resume survey, you will be assigned a resume writer, who will construct your resume, normally within 5 to 7 business days. If your resume writer requires additional information, he or she will simply ask you for it via email or phone.
Q. What type of resume format do you use?
A. In most cases, we use our adapted version of a combination resume format, which has been shown through Department of Labor research to be the most effective for military career transitioners. The reason is because it combines the best features of a chronological and functional format, making it ideal for individuals with extensive work experience. The combination format is also well-known in the civilian sector as the typical format used for more senior-level workers. There are isolated times when we choose a chronological format, which is suited for clients who are more junior and possess limited work experience.
Q: When should I start working on my resume?
A: A year from separation or retirement is not too soon to be putting a resume together, particularly if you are stationed overseas or intend to relocate from your last military assignment.
Q: Should I write my own resume, or have a professional writer do it for me?
A: Ideally, you are the best person to write your resume since you know yourself best. However, if you want to save yourself time and effort, use a reputable service. Just be sure that whoever is writing your resume is not only qualified, but will work with you during the writing process. There should be communication back and forth to ensure you get a resume that truly reflects your marketable skills. Additionally, if you know your writing ability is not the greatest, consider using a resume service.
Q: There are plenty of resume services out there. What makes you different?
A: We provide one primary service - writing military resumes for military transitions. We are not a job placement company that also does resumes. We are not a general resume company that also does military resumes. We do ONLY military resumes, for military transition - period. In other words, if you are a military member in need of a resume to market yourself to the civilian marketplace, then we're the logical choice. As a secondary service, we provide useful resources and links designed to assist you in your transition process.
Q: I just received my general resume, and its great! How long do I have to provide you the information needed for my two targeted resumes?
A: You may provide the information to us anytime up to six months past your separation or retirement date. If you became a client after you transitioned out, you have up to six months from receipt of your general resume, to take advantage of any remaining items from your initial package. Of course, you may log into your account and purchase any add-on products as you need them.
Q: What if I'm not happy with the resume you write for me?
A: Because of the way we develop your resume, its nearly impossible to be unhappy with the final product. This is because we keep you involved (via phone or email) during the entire process - asking for additional feedback and clarification, and having you review drafts until you're happy with the final resume. In the end, if you're absolutely not happy with what we provide, you may take advantage of our Guarantee of Satisfaction.
Q: I've looked at other resume services, and they charge quite a bit more than you just for one resume, rather than the multiple resumes and additional products many of your packages offer. How are you able to keep your prices so low?
A: We keep our overhead low by using internet marketing and eCommerce, however, we rely mostly on the good word of our satified clients rather than spending "big bucks" on advertising. Bottom line, is we want to keep our products affordable, while making a fair profit so that we can continue to provide services for our deserving clients.
